I’m so thrilled to have gotten word on Friday, Feb. 3, 2012 that Diversity Works LLC is one of the National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce’s (NGLCC) newest lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBT) certified businesses.

For those of you who may be unfamiliar with how an LGBT certified business designation works, let me attempt to explain it very briefly. LGBT certified businesses are part of a process called Supplier Diversity and there are many other certifications available, for example: women-owned businesses, minority-owned businesses, disability-owned and veteran-owned businesses, among others. The LGBT business certification is recognized by hundreds of major corporations who are looking to buy goods or services from companies with owners who identify as LGBT.

At the end of the day you still need to have the best product or service for a corporation to want to do business with you, but the certification can help provide a competitive advantage. We are in the process of becoming a women-owned certified business as well, so hopefully we’ll have news about that soon too!
